Last letter from Elder Waidmann at the MTC. Headed to New York Monday Morning! Look out New York: Here he comes!!

Ok so here is the deal!! I only have a little bit of time left so I am going to type as fast as I can!! Luckliy there was an elder in the zone that let me borrow his card reader so I got to load up some pictures but I think that I am going to send it home today!!! Anyway!!! So wow this week has gone by so incredibly fast it is insane!!!! Like it feels like just yesterday I was saying oh my goodness it is my last monday meal here at the mtc and now it is friday!!! Like ahhhhhh!!!! Carzyness!!! I am so happy to be going to new york but at the same time I am freaking out!!! It feels like I have just been like a boarding school almost haha :) But I am about to get going for real here! it is just shocking! I am so excited though. Serving a mission is definitely some tough work especially trying to learn all of this spanish here at the mtc and trying to be able to learn how to teach the lessons and learn everything is crazy sometimes but as crazy as it is I love it. I was just thinking the other day. You know I have sang that son "I hope They Call Me On a Mission" and I am just thinking wow. The day has come. I really am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ. I am going to be serving the people of New York City!!! I will be speaking in super thick white american kid spainsh but I know that I have the Lord on my side always to help me through it. I know that it is going to be tough and exhausting but it is going to be so worth it. And it has been so worth it. I have been brought so much peace and joy these past couple of weeks! I am loving the MTC!! It is so crazy that I am leaving so soon!!! I have to be at the travel office at 4 in the morning on monday!! It is crazy!!! :) But I am so excited!! I love being a missionary!! It is so crazy!!! It feels so weird to be called Elder Waidmann I am still not used to it!! :) I have had so many wonderful and faith building opportunities to serve people in my district as the district leader. I have been able to see people smile because of the things that I have done to help them and that means everything to me. This is where I am supposed to be. I know it and I know that God knows it. I can feel His love for me so much as the little tiny skinny scrawny 18 year missionary that I am. But what I know is that He loves me. I know it. I can't deny it because I feel his love everyday so much for me. My prayers are answered when I ask in faith and I have seen so many amazing things happen here at the mtc. I love it here so much. I know that God is our loving Heavenly Father. He has a plan for EACH and EVERY one of us. It is amazing how he plans everything for our good and for our own benefit. He wants us to have these amazing faith building and faith promoting experiences because he LOVES us. Most of all HE wants US to come to HIS ONLY BELOVED SON JESUS CHRIST. Because when we do we are blessed beyond measure. I know this for a fact. Being a missionary is amazing. I love it so much. I think that it is so weird that I am going to have the opportunity to go to new york and preach the gospel as this little tiny kid from cali but I am so happy for this opportunity!! I love you all so much and I am incredibly grateful for all of your letters and your continuous quotes and things that you all send me!! Especially the surprise ones where I am like what?????!!???  Are you kidding?? This is for me!! And then my favorite candies are in there!! Oh man I feel so loved and supported I cant even begin to describe it!! Mom I love you! Dad you rock!! Kelsey and Evan keep it up!! Blake play hard!! :) Kirst Josh and Addy :) Love you all so much. Addy is so precious!! For all my friends reading this I love you all so much and I miss you bunches! Serving a mission rocks! As much as I miss being at home and seeing everyone that I love! Elder Waidmann's 5th Letter from the MTC

Hi everyone!!! Wow it is Friday again already. Wow!! That is all I can really say it is just crazy!!!! This past week has gone by so fast but it has been really good though. It is amazing how fast the time is flying here in the MTC. It feels like it was just a little while ago I was doing my first email home and now I only have a few left!! It is crazy! So today Elder Woolley and I just got back from going to the temple and that was so fun! It is always great to go there and it is a pretty nice day outside! So the day has been wonderful so far!! I can't believe that I have been out for a month already!!!! It is so crazy! I mean it feels like I just got here a little bit ago and also that I have been here forever at the same time. It is pretty funny! But yeah I can't really find the difference between the two yet :) It is just funny because I am thinking I am leaving in like a week already??? And at the same time I am like wow it feels like I have been here for DAYSS!!! But the thing is I love the MTC. I really do. Yes it is hard and tough every day with all the classes and trying to learn spanish with everything but I am loving it. It is really all about your attitude here and I am doing my best to stay positive and happy always because I know that you all want me to be happy and the thing is....I am!! It is so crazy to be a missionary. Like it really is. It kinda shicks me sometimes when I look down and think..."Wow I am definitely wearing a name tag right now that says Elder Waidmann." But it is so cool though. I am still not used to people calling me Elder Waidmann either. It is pretty funny because it takes a little while to register like hey that is me!! :) So yeah it is just amazing to me that I have been out for a month already!!!

So to the family and everyone. First off thank you to everyone for writing me I really appreciate it. I don't know what I would do without hearing from all of you back in California. You know the promised land :) Just kidding..but really though. Anyway thank you so much for all of the continuous letters and news and continuing encouragement. I wish I could tell you all how much that I love and appreciate it. I am just always smiling an so happy when I get to hear from friends and family back at home. Ok so wow it sounds like tennis season is in full swing!! That is awesome! Keep trying your best Blake! That is all you can do! Just keep positive and upbeat and always be nice to the person you are playing :) They might not pinch lines on you that way. Just kidding! But keep up the good work bro!!! I love you! So yeah keep playing your heart out!! Hey Kels!! Love you! :) Just want to let you know that you are a rocking sister and I love hearing from you! Thanks so much for always being so great and supportive!! You are great! I am praying for you always! :) Evan my bro!! I hope that school and work are going well! You are great!!! Hey mom!!!!!! I love you so much! Thank you so much for all that you do for me! I love being able to hear from you! Guess what! I am 1 down and 23 left!! Oh yeah!! :) It might take a while but just know that I love you so much and I am so grateful for you being my awesome mom!! Dad you are great! I am so sad that I can't see her but pictures do help :) She is so stinkin cute it is ridiculous!!! So just keep being the wonderful mother that you are!!! And Josh!! Ok so I still haven't seen Tanner. I am dying!!!!!!!!!! I want to see him so bad!!! :) I would just love that so much!!! It would be awesome because, well I don't know it would just make me so happy :) But I really hope that I can see him beofre I leave that would make my MTC experience complete!! SO to talk about the week. Wow it has been busy. I have been learning a lot and the spirit here is really great! On Tuesday for devotional we had Elder Whiting come so that was really cool! Elder Woolley and I are trying our best to become better at Spanish so we can teach better and it is coming along slowly but surely. And when I say slowly I mean slowly!!! :) But it has been good though!! Ok so guess what???!!!?? So you know how during conference they do the in between shows during the two hour break to fill time??? So apparently they are doing a special on the MTC!!! And they filmed us at choir practice on Tuesday!!! So I have no idea what day it will be on either saturday or sunday but when they get to the Choir part where the choir is singing like 10 thousand legions marching look for me!!!! Most likely with my luck I probably won't be in there but you never know!!! haha so that would be pretty cool!!! :) That is the exciting news for this week :)

Oh for the scripture for my placque (if that is how you spell it!! I have no idea) anyway I am still trying to decide!! I am thinking either Ether 12:27 or Doctrine and Covenants 6:36. So yeah I will figure that out soon!!! Oh and yeah so yesterday we did an English fast. It was where we didn't speak english all day long. WOW!!! Yeah it was crazy!! Let's just say that we were trying really hard!! :0 It was a good experience though!!! And also Elder Woolley and got to do the thing called how to begin teaching on the new groups of missionaries frst day!! Wow it was crazy! We got mics and everything! We just went into a big room of missionaries and started to teach a person and then they took over the rest! It was pretty fun! Then we also got to be the people that pick up the new missionaries up at the curb and that was really cool too! It seemed like that just happened!! But ok so time is up!!! I love you all so much!! Thank you for all of your amazing stories and news!! I love you all! The Church is True!!! And It is amazing. Jesus is our savior and our redeemer and that is what I am sent to do! To spread that message to all that I can! It is amazing!! Lets just say that I know that going to new york is "Meant to Be"!! In the wise words of Chris August :) Love you all so much!!!

Elder Brandon Waidmann's 4th Letter from the MTC

Hello everyone!!! Wow oh my goodness another week has flown by so fast. Like it is insane I fell like that I was just doing this a little bit ago. Ok so we just got back from the temple in Provo!!

Wowwwwwwwww!!!! It was so much fun!!! The spirit was so strong and I just love the Temple so much. It truly is the house of the Lord. We got to go with our entire zone which is what we do every week so that was really cool! It was a lot of fun being there with everyone who you are around on a dayily basis. Also our Branch President, President Tyler came with us and oh my goodness. He is amazing. I know I say that a lot, but this man just astounds me on a day to day basis when I see him. His knowledge is just amazing and he has so many stories that don't even seem believable but I know that they are because they come from him of course. He is just such an amazing man. It is crazy to think that on Monday it will only be two weeks until I am going to be in New York. Like OH MY GOODNESS!!! It is so crazy!!! The time is going by so fast!! I love it here!

So this week has been great! I have learned a lot and I continue to learn so much each and every day that I am here. Elder Woolley and I have been having a lot of fun together and everything is really hard with learning spanish but we are doing our best to try to learn as much as we can. So this week we taught our "investigators" who are really ourt teachers on a day to day basis but they play the role of people who they found on their missions and helped them learn the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Let me tell you they definitely aren't easy on us. Even though we are trying to learn a brand new language you think they would be right?? Wrong!! :) It is all good though!! We just really have to prepare and learn as much as we can for each lesson. We have had some really tough lessons and also some really good ones this past week. One of them that was really good was with our teacher Hermana Ayala. She is from Guatemala orginally and lives here and works at the MTC. Anyway she is acting as a lady named Adriana. Elder Woolley and I prepared a lot for that lesson that we had and we prayed so much and we just did our best to be able to teach her well through the spirit. We got in there and basically she said that she didn't want us to talk to her anymore. Wow. That is all I could think. But i just tried to stay calm and not be scared. Elder Woolley and I listened to the spirit and were directed so well to teach her. The lesson ended up going really well. We wanted to teach her about prophets originally but we talked to her about how when we grow closer to our savior Jesus Christ and strive to be like him Satan can place doubts in our minds and make us think things that aren't necessarily true. All of this in spanish too....yeah pretty crazy. We had a lot of help from the spirit!! :) But we told her how a living prophet could help her and we gave her a talk from Thomas S. Monson and it was about believing enduring and obeying. Then we ended the lesson. The spirit was so strong and the crazy part was is that Hermana Ayala has to give a talk soon in her ward and she was assigned the topic that we gave her!!! Oh my goodness! It was so cool!!! She said she had been looking for something to talk on and then we gave it to her. I was floored. It is amazing how when you listen to the spirit you can help multiple people. That was just so cool to be a part of. I loved it!!

Ok so I still havent seen Tanner yet!!! I really really want to!!! :) Like that would be so cool! What building does he work in and what days does he work?? I would love to see him! I know he knows where my room is and I am not sure if he has been trying to find me and if he has I guess I have missed him every time so far!! Ahhh! Hopefully soon though!!! It would be a great family reunion!!  Well between the two of us :) But so I got to see Hayden!!! It was so cool! I nearly tackled him!!! I was so excited!! :) It is so cool to see him here!! I just can't wait to find out where Dallin and Connor and Abner are going along with everyone else!!!  How is Cameron doing?? I bet he is doing great!! How about Heather?? Heard anything from the family?? Ok Kirst Addy is just so adorable. My heart just melts every time that I see her beautiful little face! I know you are being such a great momma!! :) I love you so much!! Tell Josh I need some language tips haha :) And I showed the Hermanas in my district the pictures of her and they were all freaking out because she is so adorable. So yeah Addy is loved here in Provo :) I just wish I could hold her so much!! :) 

I am having a lot of fun here. The days are going by too fast and i am realizing holy cow. I still need to learn spanish!!! :) But I also saw Sister Simmons! It's Shane Simmons sister and she is going to Russia!! I don't think she remembered me really well, what a surprise, not!! Nobody ever remembers who I am for some reason I find it quite hilarious. You can ask Abner and Dawn they will totally know who I am talking about if she doesn't sound familiar. So the weeks are just really flying by it is just crazy. But it is so great here. I am learning so much and the Spanish is coming along. But very slowly. Don't think that I am much better because I am not yet haha :) I am trying hard though!! :) So mom!! Guess what??!! I love you so much!!! :) I hope that you are doing well! I love you bunches I wish I could see your happy smile! But your letters rock!! Dad!! I love you so much! Thanks for always beign such a great example to me. I am so glad you are my dad!! :) Blake!! Play hard!! Make me proud bro! I know you can do well! Elder Brandon Waidmann's 3rd Letter from the MTC

Well hello there family and everyone!!! Wow it is already P-day again that is crazy!! It feels like I just had it a little bit ago! Well I guess I did, you know last week :) But anyway that is what is going on here in the fabulous state of Utah!!

Ok so to answer some questions!!! So I have been getting all of your Dear Elder letter to me which is so greatly appreciated on my part I can't even tell you! I am so grateful for them all. Thank you so much!!!!! Ok Dad!! So in our district everyone is speaking spanish and also everyone in our entire zone is too!!! It is so cool! We started off with only 2 districts when we got here and now we have 5!!! There is abour 50-60 sisters and elders combined it is crazy!!! But so cool!!! And Elder Woolley and I and two sets of sisters in our district are all going to NYNYCS mission!!! It is great!!! So far since we have been here we have met a lot of other elders and sisters going to the same mission as us it is so cool!!! :) And I got to see Hermana Staker! She is from our stake back at home and left 2 weeks before I did. It was pretty funny I talked to her after our devotional on Tuesday, which was awesome, she had no idea who I was of course :) I mean that always happens to me which I am kind of used to by now :) But she was really happy that she met someone from back home so that was cool to talk to her!!

Anyway!!!! Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The baby came!!!! Ahhhhhh!! That is so exciting!! I wish I could have been home to see and to hold that little piece of heaven :) But I am so happy that Adaline is safe and healthy and that all os well with Kirsten and her that makes me so happy!! When I read the news from mom in one of my dear elders from here I just started crying!! It was kinda a mix between happy and sad but I am so happy that she is finally here! That is just so great!!! Keep sending me pictures PLEASE!!!!

Anyway the baby is so precious and I just wish that I could see her in person!! But thank you so much for sending me that package Kirsten and Josh!! I love the pictures of her!! I still am having a hard time of telling who she looks like more though :)

Ok so Blakeeeee!! Nice job in the tennis!! That is way cool! I am really happy for you! Right when I logged onto my email I saw the pictures that mom took! Pretty awesome!! :) Keep it up!!!

So mom and dad!!! Both of you got asked to be on the trek!! That is so cool! It may seem kinda not as fun getting ready for it because you will have so much responsibility for the kids during it but I promise it will be so worth it. I loved it so much when I got to go! It was a blast and if you just have the right attitude about it I know that both of you along with blake will have such an awesome time there! The experience really makes you appreciate the pioneers let me tell you!!! :) Oh so I got to see the pictures from Limher!! That was so cool! Kirsten, sis you rock. I am so proud of you for having that baby like a champ. You are awesome! And I know that you are such a wonderful mother to your little baby girl already!! :) How is San Fran everyone?? I hope it is good! I am sure it is with all of the cooking mom has been doing there!! I wish I could be there to join the party :) Oh and tell baby Adaline that I said thanks so much for that dear elder letter that she sent me!! It is amazing what skills newborns have these days!!! :)

MOM!!! HI!!! I love you!!! So laundry is okay here! You know its just laundry :) And I havent seen anyone else that I know yet!!! I know that Hayden Nielson got here on Wednesday but I havent been able to find him yet!!!! Ok so Tanner found my room but he hasn't found me yet!! I know because he left me a little note on my desk in our classroom! SO I'll give you the times I am in there so he can try to find me!! Ok so for monday I am in my classroom have study time from 10:45-11:45, and also from 2:15 to 3:15, then tuesday from 11:10-11:45 then 12:30-1:40, then wednesday 10:45-11:45, then 1:45-3:15. then thursday from 7:45-8:45 and 12:30-1:40, and friday is p-day and saturday from 7:45-8:45 then 12:30-1:40. And pretty much I ma in the 18M building a lot of the day!!! So I really hope that I will be able to see him soon!!! That would be so cool! :)

Dad! Guess what!??!! You know Dirk Verdoorn?? You know like our weatherman???? His son is in my district!! I was talking to Elder Verdorn one day just about where we live because we both live in california and I just said wow you totally have the same last name of our weatherman dirk verdoorn and he just said yep that is my dad!! Pretty cool!!! He is going to Oaxaca Mexico with a trio in our district! pretty cool!! Ok so for the last couple of minutes that I have because time is running out fast here I have about 3 minutes left, anyway I wanted to talk about how great it has been here! I am seriously learning so much. Yes it is tough. I can't even tell you. Spanish is ridiculous. I have NO IDEA how Josh learned Mandarin. Insane. Anyway yes it is so hard and really frustrating at times because I have sio much I want to say when we teach our lessons but I can't because I don't know the words. But I am learning so much about how it doesn't matter what I want to say it is what the Lord wants me to say. It is so cool because we will get in there and start teaching out lesson to our investigator and I will still struggle with words and things like that but I still feel guided. It is amazing. The spirit teaches so well it is just awesome! I love it! It is really hard to teach in spanish but it is cool too. I love it so much here. I know for a fact and I know it because I have felt it, that the Church of Jesus Christ is true. I promise it is. Jesus lives. He loves us. And I love you all so much!!!!!!

Elder Waidmann's Second MTC Letter

Hello Family And friends!!!!

Today is p-day or preparation day!! It is great!! We are in the computer lab right now emailing home!!! Today has been great so far!! We got up really early and went to the provo temple!! It was so much fun! That temple is so beautiful!! I loved it there and it just felt so good to go! So wow I have been in the MTC for quite some time now!!! Like a week and half!! That is like forever huh??!! Haha just kidding! So the MTC here is so much fun! We are having a great time and it is just so cool here. It is amazing to always be surrounded by so many elders and sisters here. I was talking with one of our zone leaders who left to Chile this week and we just kept saying how cool it was that there were so many people here at the MTC. It is kind of amazing to think about. He said something that I though was really cool. He said just think about it there are over 4000 missionaries here and every single person here will bring at least one person to Jesus Christ and have them come to know of the knowledge and happiness that we have. It is so cool to think about and I am so glad that I am a part of this here!! It just is so cool because I am a real missionary right now!! I never really thought that the day would come but it has and it is so cool to be able to be here and to learn and how to better serve the Lord.

Ok so for questions....there have been a lot of questions so just forgive me if I don't answer them all!!!

Ok so Mom first things first...I love you so much!!! You are awesome! :) Love you more than you even know!! :) Anyway I haven't gained any weight mom don't worry! :) I have actually lost like a pound-ish I kinda go up and down everyday I guess! Oh and so yeah I love the MTC it is so great!! The spirit here is so strong and it is just so much fun! Oh to Dad and everyone who sends me quotes and scriptures from Dear Elder, you guys rock so much!! I love you all so much and I am so grateful for that!!! I love being able to read them and they are so encouraging so thank you so much!! Keep them coming! They keep me strong that is for sure!! :) Oh and before I forget I just want to say thank you to everyone so much for sending me letters. It is so awesome to get mail from you all. I can't even express how happy that they make me. I really do love it so much. I wish I could write back everyday that you all write to me but I only have one day to do that and that day is today! So thank you so much!!! Seriously thank you! It makes mission life here at the MTC so beautiful to know that I have people back at home who love and care about me enough to write me!! :) So my favorite part about the MTC so far has been Tuesday night. It was devotional night. It was so amazing!!! So M. Russell Ballard came. Oh my goodnesss. It was so ridiculously amazing. Right when he walked into the room you could just feel the love that he brought with him and most importantly he brought the spirit into the rooom so much. He talked about how the church and the apostles and the first presidency has put so much trust into young people. And most importantly the Lord trusts us. It is so cool to hear that from an apostle of the Lord. It really struck me because I am so young and I feel like I am kinda inadequate sometimes but that gives me and the other missionaries so much confidence. It was so cool! And guess what Dad and Grandpa!!! My companion and I sang in the choir!! Oh and you know what song we sang :) You don't even have to read the next line I am sure of that. It was Consider the Lilies. It was so much fun and it sounded so beautiful. It was so amazing and I just thought I wish Grandpa was here to hear this :)

Ok so there has been some snow!! It has been pretty cool! Haha get it cool??? :) Just kidding lame pun. Anyway it has snowed a couple of times and now thwe snow is melting quite rapidly. My companion and I made snow angels in some fresh powder after gym time one day and it was so funny!! :) The food is great here!! :) I love it! Well kinda its cafeteria food but is like bomb!! :) Ok Blake I am so proud of you for playing like such a boss in tennis! Way to go and keep it up! Member always stay positive!! :) You will do great I am sure of it! Just focus!! :) You can get some great wins out there!! :) Ok so everyday we have gym time but it is at a different time every day. It is pretty great!! Elder Woolley and I and the other 2 elders in our room go to the gym together everyday and work out together it is pretty fun! I am super sore all the time! It is good though!! :) Ok so I still haven't seen Tanner yet!!! I want to see him so bad!! I am in building 18M and my classroom number is 350!! I would love to see him so much!!! Ah I am running out of time!! Ok so about the Spanish. Last time I emailed home we were about to teach our first lesson in Spanish. Lets just say that it was interesting!! Then we had to teach the next day!! It was pretty crazy!! So then we taught on monday and then on wednesday. It is really hard to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ when you really dont know the language very well. But it is okay because we have been really trying our best to teach by the spirit. It is amazing how the spirit helps when you really don't know what you are saying. IN one of our lessons this week we were teaching and our investigator was asking a bunch of questions and I somehow was able to answer all of them in Spanish. I remembered so much stuff from high school it was crazy. I knew it was the spirit because right when I got out of the room I couldn't even remember any of the stuff that I said. Let me just say though that I am so glad that I went to Spanish branch as much as I did before I left. I am able to understand so much beause I have been practicing listening there so I am so grateful for that. And on wednesday we taught a lesson with no notes or anything. It was crazy but the spirit was so strong. It was amazing. Our investigator wanted to keep learning more and she said that she was so grateful for us coming because she felt the spirit so strong.
